Good Book

Hey,

I just finished a really good book - When Crickets Cry by Charles Martin. It's a very thoughtful book, somewhat sad but also uplifting (hard to explain). A far cry from the last book my book club read (The Almost Moon - ick!) - I have it if anyone is interested in borrowing it. I think I'll check into some of his other books.

The Crud

Well, I finally got the crud that Bob had over the holidays - it's not much fun! Saturday I felt like my head was going to explode and stayed in bed (or the recliner) the entire day! That actually helped because when I woke up this morning I felt quite a bit better. I guess the alternating of Nyquil and ibuprofen have done some good - along with the Ricola cough drops (those things work great!). Of course I decided to try to get a few things done around the house since I didn't get anything at all done yesterday, and now I guess I'm paying for it - I'm wearing down fast. I probably should have stayed in bed again today, but I just couldn't. Oh well, the floors are clean and some of the laundry is done - and I'm ready for a nap.

We were supposed to have Family Game Night last night but we decided to postpone it - didn't want everyone else getting this cold or whatever it is. Plus the fact that I never would have gotten the house cleaned up and a few snacks put together in time. Bummer!! We were looking forward to it - guess we'll have to wait a week or so.

First Day Back to Work - Bummer!

Boy, it was hard to get up at 5:15 this morning - mostly after sleeping until around 8 or 8:30 every morning for the past week and a half! It sure was a good break - I got quite a few things done - some baseboard touch-up painting, cleaning out the Christmas/Catch-All closet, etc., - then I headed next door to the "disaster area" to start cleaning up the HUGE pile of trash. I originally thought it was mostly glass bottles, but soon found out that the man who used to live there didn't have trash pick-up services so he just tossed all of his trash outside into a pile. I spent about a day and a half out there sorting through all kinds of trash and a TON of 'Stillbrook' bourbon bottles. I intended to take all of the bottles to the recycle place, but have since given up on that idea - there is just TOO MUCH junk over there. I did take two truck beds (S-10) full of bottles to be recycled though - that will just have to be my contribution - the rest will have to go to the landfill.

Anyway, work wasn't too bad today - it actually went by pretty fast. Bob said he had the "usual crazy Monday". Guess I'm on the countdown to Spring Break - wow, that seems like forever!!

Car Capsule

January 2, 2009

Since today was the first day it hasn't been windy in the past two months, we decided to put the SSR in it's "home" for the winter. It's called a car capsule and it's VERY strange looking. It wasn't too hard to get set up - hopefully it will keep the weather and the rodents out. Pictures are above. . .
Greetings All,

It's the beginning of 2009 and we're attempting our first blog - seems like everyone is doing it these days. Guess we'll see how it goes..............

Our Babies

Christmas 2008

Christmas this year was hectic to say the least. Bob was very busy with work and we really wanted to spend time with as many of our family and friends over the break as we could. We had Christmas with Allison's parents (separately) near the beginning of December. Then we had Christmas with our good friends, Debbie and Ken, toward the middle of the month. Allison's kids joined us for church on Christmas Eve then came over to exchange gifts. Bob's kids and their families came for Christmas on Christmas morning. On Christmas afternoon we packed up the dogs and RV and headed for Dallas to get away for a few days and to visit with Allison's sister and her family (who live about 5 miles from the RV park we stayed in). We stopped by Bob's mom's in OKC for a quick visit on our way back from Dallas. We enjoyed the time we spent with all of our family and friends this year, even if it did go by too fast.
